Most of Piemonte's area is a fertile
plain crossed by many rivers ; one of
them ,
the Po river , is the biggest one in Italy .
This plain is situated
only 1000 feet above sea-level , so the
whole
area looks like a huge amphitheatre surrounded
by very high mountains .
The highest , the
Monte Bianco in the Aosta Valley , reaches up
to 15800
feet!!
The chain of the Alps
protects the region and helps to keep a
stable climate
.
We have four seasons and the best time
to see the Piemonte is...always!
Springtime is wonderful , when trees are
shooting , Fall is wonderful for the colour of
leaves , for the grape-harvest and for the wine!
Summertime is not very hot and
Wintertime is wonderful for skiers .
In Piemonte there are more than 300 skiing
installations and more than
800 miles of ski-runs .
