Cuneo 2

A very particular institution was founded in the town of Bra (close to Alba) by Carlo Petrini . This institution is named ..."Slow Food" and its symbol is a....snail !! It was founded to remind everybody , wherever they live , how is agreeable to eat authentic good food and taste it...slowly ! Recently Mr. Petrini opened a "Slow Food Center" in New York City ! He has gone a really long way !

Many farmer-houses are organized with ample
facilities for tourists to enjoy country life with
horsing , biking or simply walking among the hills
and tasting good food and the excellent wine .

The South side of the province includes the town of Mondovì well known for its pottery .

Close to Mondovì we can see the Vicoforte Sanctuary which has the
biggest elliptic dome in the world .

In the valleys close to Mondovì there are the nicest grottos of Piemonte . Huge sizes , plenty of current waters , splendid calcareous concretions : these are their main characteristics .
This area is rich also of thermal waters : near by the village where we live there are the Lurisia Baths where the Nobel Prizes Pierre and Marie Curie have been living and studying for a long time .

The North side of the province is rich of nice medieval towns . One of them is Saluzzo , a very important Antique Trade Center . You can see it on the left with the Monviso on the background . You can also see the Monviso at sunset in the homepage .

      An other nice town is Fossano with the wonderful   Acaja   Castle , seat of the   Public Library and the Historical Archives .

South and Southwest of Cuneo's Province we can visit many wonderful valleys with important Winter Resorts .
