We  just  told  you  about  the  Saint  Michael  Abbey  at  the      beginning  of  the  Susa  Valley.  Susa  is  the  main  town  and  was   built  by  the  Romans . In  the  middle  of  the  valley  you  can  see   the  Exilles  Fortress  where  had  been  prisoner  the  famous    mysterious  Iron  Mask !

Going  up  the  valley  we  reach  Sestriere ,  the  main  skiing  resort  of  the  2006  Snow  Olympic  Games  area .

North west  of  Torino  there  are  several  valleys  named  Lanzo     Valleys  that  have  been  for a  long  time  a  holiday  resort  for  the  Torino's  people .  These  valleys  are  famed  for  the  typical  old  stone    bridges .  The  most  famous  among  them  is  the  "Devil   Bridge".

North  of  Torino  there  is  the  Canavese  area .  A  fertile  country  with  a  lot  of  medieval  villages , vineyards  and  castles . The  main  town  is  Ivrea  that  dates  back  to  the  Roman   Empire  period .

Ivrea  is  the  seat  of  the  Olivetti  Industries . Ivrea  is  famed  also  for  its  Carnival . Later  we'll  tell  you  about .

West  of  Torino there  is  the  nice  medieval  town  of  Pinerolo ,famous    for  its  "Pinerolo  Cavalry  School".

Beyond  Pinerolo  there  is  the  Pellice  Valley  that  was  the  theatre  since  1300  of  the  Waldensian  religion  wars .  They  obtained   the  freedom  of  worship  in  1848 , February  17 , and  they  celebrate  this  anniversary  all  the  night  long  with  bonfires  alight  in  the  valley .
